The first step to enter the Korean market is to determine whether the products need Korean KC compulsory safety certification. More than 50 categories of products (including heavy machinery and other products that pose a risk to consumers) must be type 1 certified. These products must be tested in a laboratory authorized by the Korean authorities in South Korea.

At the same time, more than 90 products must pass type 2 self declaration certification. These products are usually less harmful to consumers, such as audio / video (A / V) and information technology equipment (ITE). They are not subject to mandatory laboratory tests or factory inspections in Korea, but must be Kats certified (and registered in Kats) in order to enter the market legally.

The remaining 33 product categories (covering products below 50V or products with less risk to consumers) require only a declaration of conformity or a doc. Kats certification or registration is not required, but the product must pass internal or third-party testing to meet the required safety standards.

KC EMC + RF certification in South Korea

KC (RF + EMC) (formerly known as KCC) must approve the manufacture or import of information communication and telecommunication equipment to be sold in Korea. The consent is based on Article 33 of the basic law on telecommunications and articles 46 and 57 of the radio wave law.

The equipment specified in Article 3 of the "information and communication equipment certification regulation" must be certified and labeled before it can be sold on the Korean market. The label must include:

Name of applicant

Product and model name

date of manufacture

origin

KC logo and KC (MSIP) number

In addition, the user manual of the product must be in Korean and contain all necessary related statements.
